Winnie, Texas dubs itself the “Gateway to the Gulf.” The town is located between Houston and Beaumont along Interstate 10. Travelers drive through Winnie, along Texas State Highway 124, to reach the Gulf of Mexico and the Bolivar Peninsula, making it a point of interest destination.

Village Creek State Park

The park is used as a recreational space for many outdoors enthusiasts. An abundance of facilities are available for campers.Also in the park camping grounds are showers, a children’s playground and numerous benches plotted throughout the area. For hikers and mountain bikers, there are 8 miles of trails leading through the park’s forestry; they give you the opportunity to spot some of the wildlife that inhabits the area, such as bull frogs, snakes and white tailed deer.

Martin Dies Jr. State Park

The 2-mile nature trail takes you past much of the flora and fauna of the park. there are a range of facilities, including showers, camping grounds with electricity, cabins to rent and playgrounds for children.

Sea Rim State Park

Located 22 miles to the south of Winnie is Sea Rim State Park, an undeveloped area of marshland and beaches stretching for 5 miles.Animals inhabiting the park include rabbits, alligators and skunks.Throughout the year air boat tours of the marshes are available. They feature an informative journey through the diverse ecosystem of the Sea Rim marshlands. Although there are no real developed areas in the parks, there are camping areas available with water and electricity situated near the beachfront.
